Ghosty Privacy Policy

Ghosty ("we," "us," or "the App") is a privacy-first iOS application developed by Christian Festa LLC.

It is a privacy firewall that runs on your device: it inspects the domain lookups your apps make, answers the ones on your blocklists locally, and forwards the rest to the DNS resolver you choose. Blocking uses curated categories you can toggle on or off and domains you add yourself (up to 10 in the free tier, unlimited in Premium). Premium also shows every lookup (the free tier shows only blocked entries), longer Insights history, real-time protection, and a choice of resolver. All filtering runs locally on your iPhone or iPad.

We do not collect any information about what you browse or block.

Lookups, domains, IP addresses, and your blocklists never leave your device. The only data Ghosty ever sends is optional, anonymous usage reports, which are off by default and described below.

Information We Do Not Collect

All filtering happens locally on your device. No data about connections, blocked entries, custom domains, or traffic logs ever leaves your device or reaches our servers (or anyone else's).
Your added domains and toggle settings for curated categories are stored only in secure local storage on your device. Curated lists (if updated) are downloaded as public, non-personalized files with no user identifiers attached.
Traffic viewing: Premium users see full local traffic logs exclusively on-device. Free users see only blocked entries. These logs are never transmitted.
In-app purchases: Apple processes all subscriptions and payments. We receive no payment details, email addresses, or purchase-related personal information.
Advertising and tracking: The app uses no advertising frameworks and no tracking. It does not share data with data brokers or ad networks.

Optional Usage Reports

Ghosty can send anonymous usage reports to help us understand which features are used. Usage reports are off by default. You are asked during setup, and you can switch them on or off at any time in Settings.

What is sent: counts of product actions (for example, that a category was switched on or a purchase completed, including the product purchased) and a hashed device identifier that is not linked to you.
What is never sent: domains, lookups, IP addresses, blocklist entries, or anything you type.
Where it goes: reports are delivered only to TelemetryDeck (telemetrydeck.com), an analytics service designed for anonymous, privacy-preserving usage statistics. They are used for analytics only and are not used for tracking or advertising.

Data Storage

All your settings, custom lists, and local logs (if any) remain on your device using iOS secure storage. They are never backed up to iCloud unless you manually enable it for the app (under your full control). Deleting the app removes all local data.

Sharing or Selling Data

We do not share, sell, or disclose any data. The only third party that receives anything is TelemetryDeck, and only the anonymous usage counts described above, only while usage reports are switched on.

Security

Your privacy is protected by design—nothing ever leaves your device. The app follows Apple's security guidelines and runs in Apple's sandboxed environment.

Children's Privacy

Ghosty is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly process data from anyone.

Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)

We hold no data that identifies you. Usage reports, if you turn them on, are anonymous and cannot be linked back to you, so there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete. You fully control everything stored locally on your device, and you can switch usage reports off at any time in Settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Any changes will be posted in the app with a new effective date. Continued use of Ghosty after changes means you accept the updated policy.
